This year Gay is marking 50 remarkable years in the business. She has appeared in no less than 19 West End productions and in many others across the globe, as well as a variety of film and TV programs.

- Phoenix Theatre - CANTERBURY TALES, playing Wilfred Brambell's young wife/Nicky Henson's lover in various tales for over 1000 performances)
- Theatre Royal Drury Lane
BILLY playing Barbara opposite Michael Crawford, alongside Elaine Paige as Rita and Diana Quick as Liz. - Wyndhams Theatre - GODSPELL original London cast 1971, with David Essex, Jeremy Irons, Marti Webb and Julie Covington for nearly 1000 performances (singing Turn Back Oh Man)
- Fortune Theatre - A PRESENT FROM THE CORPORATION with Julia MacKenzie (short "showcase" run)
- Gielgud Theatre (Then known as the Globe theatre) - THE MITFORD GIRLS with Patricia Hodge as Nancy Mitford (playing Debo, her sister, who became Duchess of Devonshire)
- Piccadilly Theatre - WHICH WITCH (as Gertrude the Herb Seller in this Norwiegan musical)
- Wyndhams Theatre - SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM for Ned Sherrin
- Garrick Theatre - SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM for Ned Sherrin (transferred from the Wyndhams)
- Aldwych Theatre - GOOD by CP Taylor for the RSC with Alan Howard and Joe Melia
- Vaudeville Theatre - SALAD DAYS for Ned Sherrin (as Lady Raeburn)
- Phoenix Theatre - THE RATEPAYERS IOLANTHE for Ned Sherrin (as Phyllis, heiress to the GLC)
- Palace Theatre - LES MISERABLES (3 years as Madame Thenardier, 88- 91)
